Is New York a good place to bring children?

Most definitely. While there are many adult activities in the city there are also a lot of great activities for the family.

There's a ferris wheel at the Toys R' Us in Times Square. FAO Schwarz is a child's paradise. Kids love Central Park where you'll find a Zoo and an old fashioned carousel. You could spend a whole day with the kids at the Museum of Natural History.

If you're an outdoors type family then you can head over to Hudson River Park or take the train out to Coney Island.
